Hello Spartan Students and Families,
I am Mario Landeros, your new principal and I am so excited about the upcoming school year. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and why I cannot wait to begin working with the students, staff, and community of Esparto High School.
I come from River City High School in West Sacramento where I was an assistant principal for two years. Prior to my time in West Sacramento, I was an administrator in Solano County for four years and a teacher for 10 years before moving into site administration. In my time at River City High School I worked to continually develop it’s ten Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, support River City’s diverse English Language Learner population, and worked in conjunction with the Student Activities Director to promote a more prideful culture on campus.
My wife and I have three wonderful and energetic children (ages six years old, four years old, and 10 months old) and live in Vacaville. Having spent my entire life in Vacaville and the Sacramento Valley region, I am very familiar with Esparto and what a special community it is. What attracted me to Esparto and Esparto High School are the amazing CTE programs offered, the dual enrollment opportunities with Woodland Community College, and the care and support provided to its students who are English Language Learners.
I believe that educational leaders should provide choice and opportunity for students and families. This and many other beliefs and values are deeply rooted in Esparto High School's programs and pathways. From taking Advanced Placement Human Geography to earn college credits, to completing Plant Science in which students can earn community college credits, students have a wide range of relevant and engaging opportunities. Another important belief I have is that in order to move the school forward, we must do it together. The “we” is inclusive of students, staff, parents, community, and district support. With the hardworking staff of EHS and community involvement, I am positive that we can move forward together.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to a great year.
